Whilst there are certainly plenty of excellent attractions to keep your family more than entertained in exciting New York City, maybe the kids would like to cool off and splash around in a fun-filled water park? Athough several hotels and gyms have pools, the water parks feature slides and other fun activities and games for the whole family to enjoy … there’s so much more than just swimming!
There are many terrific water parks within easy reach of NYC, some located in nearby and neighbouring states. All of the below, however, are located in the state of New York:
Enchanted Forest Water Safari
This is not only the biggest water park in all of New York State, but it is also one of the largest water parks across the whole of North America. You are sure to have a great day here! There are special areas for smaller kids and an assortment of thrilling rides and slides for grownups and bigger kids too, meaning that nobody needs to miss out on the action. There are different pools to enjoy, including a cool wave pool, more than 50 different rides, and over 32 fabulous water rides. That’s a lot to fit in! Chutes, slides, and rafts are just a few things you can expect. If you want to relax for a while simply head to one of the lovely seating areas or drift along the lazy river. Food and drink outlets are available.
Splish Splash
Located at Long Island, Splish Splash is an enormous water park that is home to a variety of pools, slides, and other rides. Trees grow up through the complex giving it a rather natural feeling and there are plenty of things for people of all ages. Gushing geysers and bubbling pools are sure to entrance the little ones and they can have fun in the excellent play area whilst enjoying its fascinating shipwreck theme. There are some great shows too if you want to stay dry for a little while and cabanas are available to rent to use as your family base whilst enjoying this amazing water park.
Six Flags Hurricane Harbor
Adults and bigger children can have fun on a variety of fast and thrilling slides, including racing slides, rafts, and boogie boards. Little children have their own specially designed area with smaller slides, shallower pools, a cute fountain, and an enticing tree house. The whole family can indulge in a spot of blissful relaxation in the hot tubs and, of course, there are also regular swimming pools. With great seating areas, a selection of places to buy food and drinks, and in excess of 160 fun rides, this is the perfect place for the whole family to let off steam.
Water Slide World
As the name suggests, here you’ll find lots of fun water slides! But that’s not all … the large park also offers even more superb water rides and attractions. Divided into cool themed areas, younger visitors are sure to love Aruba Scuba-Duba Bay and Pirate Ship Cove. There’s a vigorous wave pool and you can also join in with a competitive game of volleyball and burn off some excess energy!
Other great water parks near New York City include the indoor Great Wolf Lodge, Splash Down Beach, the Six Flags Great Escape Lodge and Water Park, and Cascade’s Indoor Water Park.
